Fixed Price Airport Transfers for October Half Term
October half term is one of the busiest weeks of the year at Manchester Airport. Most schools in Manchester, Stockport and Trafford are off from Monday 26 October to Friday 30 October 2026, and many families fly out the weekend before. When Is October Half Term 2026?
For most council run schools in Manchester, Stockport and Trafford, half term week runs from Monday 26 October to Friday 30 October 2026. Schools break up on Friday 23 October, and pupils go back on Monday 2 November.
Academies and free schools can set their own dates, and some schools elsewhere use different weeks altogether. Check your school’s calendar before you book flights, because the airport can be busy either side of the main week.
The Busiest Days to Expect
Last year the Friday before half term was the airport’s busiest day since the summer. Manchester Airport handled more than 114,000 passengers on Friday 24 October 2025. We expect a similar pattern this year, with Friday 23 October and the weekend that follows carrying the heaviest traffic.
The return rush usually lands on the last weekend, around Saturday 31 October and Sunday 1 November. If you are booking a return pickup for those days, give us your flight number so we can track your landing time.
Manchester Airport advises following your airline’s check in times, usually two hours before a short haul flight and three hours before a long haul flight. On peak days we plan your pickup time around that advice, not around the best case drive.
The Clocks Go Back on Sunday 25 October
At 2 am on Sunday 25 October 2026, the clocks go back one hour. If you have an early flight that morning, check that your phone has updated and that your alarm matches the new time.
It is also worth checking that the pickup time on your booking confirmation matches the new time, so you and your driver are working from the same clock.
Which Terminal Are You Flying From?
Manchester Airport now runs two terminals. Terminal 2 serves every airline except Ryanair, and Ryanair flies from Terminal 3. Terminal 1 has closed, so if you last flew from Manchester a while ago, an old habit may send you to the wrong place.
Check the terminal on your boarding pass and tell us when you book. The two terminals have separate drop off points, and a wrong turn on a busy half term morning costs time you do not have.
Family Travel: Vehicles, Child Seats and Luggage
Most half term bookings are for families, and families carry more than they expect. A family of four with four large suitcases will not fit in a standard saloon. Book an MPV and the whole holiday goes in the boot first time.
We carry infant seats, toddler seats and boosters at a low cost per seat. Tell us your children’s ages when you book, and the right seats will be fitted and ready when your driver arrives. Our child friendly airport taxi page explains each seat type.
Early Morning Half Term Pickups
Many half term flights to Spain, Turkey and the Canary Islands leave early. That means pickups at 3 am or 4 am, while the children are still half asleep. We run those hours every day, and we send your confirmation the evening before with your driver already allocated. Read more about our early morning airport transfers.
Fixed Pricing Over Half Term
App taxis often raise their prices when demand climbs, and half term week is exactly when that happens. Our fare is agreed when you book and stays the same on Friday 23 October as it does on a quiet Tuesday in November. Traffic on the M56 does not change it, and neither does a delayed flight.
What Actually Matters When You Book for Half Term
Book early, ideally as soon as your flights are confirmed. Give us your terminal, not just your airline. Include your flight number for any return pickup, and tell us how many cases and child seats you need. If you are travelling as a larger group, our family airport taxi options show which vehicle fits. Those details cover almost everything that goes wrong on a half term airport run.
