Why Salford Businesses Prefer RideX for Airport Transfers
We have been providing Salford to Manchester Airport transfers since 2018. What is now all over the Quays area has seen over 3,400 journeys in that time. Most were early morning trips to MediaCity. Many were by residents heading to catch flights to Europe.
Here’s what drivers know that GPS doesn’t tell you: the M602 slip road from Broadway is a bottleneck between 7.30-9am. Our drivers run 5 minutes ahead during those times. Little thing, but 98%.
Wolverhampton Council licensed (PHOP445), all vehicles are safety checked every six months. All of our drivers carry out enhanced DBS vetting BEFORE they even get near a steering wheel.
The M602/M60 Route in Practice
Morning: M602 southbound direct to M60 westbound. Otherwise, it takes 18-22 minutes each way unless there is an accident (which I see maybe twice a month on that stretch).
Daytime runs (9am-6pm): Traffic is lighter. You’ve got 20 minutes door to terminal. The M60 Eccles interchange does slow down occasionally at lunchtime – it’s nothing to fret about but good to know.
Evening airport pick-ups: And now it gets crunchy. The M60 eastbound is slow moving near Trafford Centre between 5pm-7pm. We’ve discovered the A5081 through Irlam only adds 4 minutes to your journey and completely bypasses the jam. If you purchase from a design center, your driver will recommend it if necessary.
You could even begin to wonder about roadworks. The “surface” of the M602 is repainted every summer (June, typically). When that happens, we take A576 right through Pendleton — there’s an 8-minute penalty but at least you’re moving.
Fixed Pricing Explained
The advertised price is the price you pay when making a reservation. Period.
| Route | Price Range |
|---|---|
| Salford Quays to Terminal 1 | £25-£28 |
| MediaCityUK to Terminal 2 | £26-£29 |
| Pendleton to Terminal 3 | £27-£30 |
Those bands are by vehicle type (saloon, vs executive). They don’t change at 3am. They don’t jump during snow. We say fixed because surge pricing screws over customers—we’ve seen competitors charge £45 for the same route during Christmas week.
But here’s the straight answer: Prices recalibrate with extra stops. If you have to pick up a coworker in Ordsall on the way to the airport, that’s another £5. Fair system beats surprise charges.
MediaCityUK Pickup: The Stuff No-One Tells You
BBC North: We meet by the Orange car park entrance on Broadway. We can’t get past security to the main reception area.
ITV Granada: The driver meets you at the Trafford Wharf Road entrance close to the glass bridge.
The Pie Factory/Dock House: We park right outside on Trafford Wharf Road — no restrictions before 8am for those buildings.
When your driver is 2 minutes away, you get a text. And no wandering for what feels like miles trying to find car park level 3.
For flight departing in the early hours (before 6AM), we monitor your flight status at time of booking. If your flight is delayed, we automatically adjust for that in pickup. You don’t call us — we call you.

FAQ Section
How much is a taxi from Salford Quays to Manchester Airport?
Fixed prices begin at £25 for saloon cars and £28 for executive cars. The charge is for all three terminals and includes 60 minutes free waiting time if your inbound flight is delayed. No surge pricing, including during holidays or in the middle of the night.
How long does the tram from MediaCityUK to the airport take?
Normal journey times are 18-25 minutes, via the M602 and M60 motorways. During the morning rush hour (7:30 to 9 a.m.) it can add another 5-7 minutes. Our drivers constantly check the traffic and make necessary adjustments to ensure they’re on time.
Is it possible to book a Salford taxi to airport at 3AM?
Yes – we are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week! Even on Christmas Day and bank holidays. We would require 4 hours notice for any early morning bookings (12am-6am). We send the driver details the night before for an early departure, so you are not worried we have forgotten you.
What if my flight arrives late?
We monitor all inbound flights from the time of booking until arrival. We automatically include pickup time in case your flight is delayed at no cost. You have 60 minutes of free waiting time from the actual landing time (not scheduled arrival time). After that, if you stay longer, it’s £5 per 15-minute increment.
Do you have car seats available for airport shuttle transfers?
Booster seats and forward-facing child seat (child up to 4-7 years old) can be provided for free. Infant carriers (0-3 years) should be requested at least 24 hours prior to the reservation. Tell us your kid’s age and weight — we’ll figure out the right seat.
Can I pay by card in car?
Yes, all cabs take contactless card payments up to £100. We also accept cash/bank transfer, or we can arrange monthly billing for MediaCity based businesses that have regular airport transfers. Receipt provided immediately after payment.
