You could even begin to wonder about roadworks. The “surface” of the M602 is repainted every summer (June, typically). When that happens, we take A576 right through Pendleton — there’s an 8-minute penalty but at least you’re moving.

Those bands are by vehicle type (saloon, vs executive). They don’t change at 3am. They don’t jump during snow. We say fixed because surge pricing screws over customers—we’ve seen competitors charge £45 for the same route during Christmas week.

But here’s the straight answer: Prices recalibrate with extra stops. If you have to pick up a coworker in Ordsall on the way to the airport, that’s another £5. Fair system beats surprise charges.
