What Return Transfer Actually Means
We’ve been doing return airport transfers since 2018. Licensed under Wolverhampton Council (PHOP445). And let me explain what “return transfer” or “round trip” actually means because there’s some confusion.
Return transfer means you book outbound and return journeys together in one booking. We take you to the airport on Monday morning. We collect you from the airport on Friday evening. Two separate journeys. Two separate pickups. The driver doesn’t wait at the airport all week.
This is different from driver waiting during a short trip (like taking you to the airport, waiting 2 hours, bringing you back the same day – that’s waiting time service, not return transfer).
We’ve probably done 1,500-2,000 return transfers over the years. Most are week-long holidays (outbound Monday, return following Monday). Some are short business trips (outbound Tuesday morning, return Wednesday evening). Some are weekend breaks (outbound Friday, return Sunday).

FAQs:
Do you discount return transfers versus separate bookings?
Usually, no, return transfer costs the same as two separate one-way bookings. If the outbound journey is £40 and the return is £40, booking as a return transfer is £80 total (same as booking separately). The benefit is convenience – one booking covers both legs with less admin. Some companies advertise “return discounts,” but often the discount is minimal (5-10%) or has restrictions. We keep pricing transparent and consistent.
How does return booking work for flight delays?
Outbound leg runs on the scheduled time. Return leg adjusts automatically for flight delays using the same flight tracking as regular pickups. If the return flight lands 2 hours late, the pickup adjusts 2 hours later automatically. You don’t need to call us (though you can if concerned). Standard 1 hour free waiting from the actual landing time applies. Major return date changes (Monday becomes Wednesday) need rebooking.
Can we cancel just the return leg?
Yes, but you pay a cancellation fee if it’s short notice. If you cancel the return leg more than 48 hours before the scheduled pickup, there is usually no fee. Cancelling the return leg the day before or on the day of pickup incurs a cancellation charge (typically 50% of the journey cost). Outbound leg remains unaffected. Better to adjust return time if possible rather than cancel completely.
Is return transfer better for short trips?
Yes, return transfer makes the most sense for short, definite trips. Weekend break (outbound Friday, return Sunday) with confirmed flight times is perfect for return booking. A week-long holiday with definite dates works well. Longer trips with uncertain return dates are better as separate bookings. Month-long trip where return might change – just book outbound, sort return later.
What if our return flight is significantly delayed?
We adjust pickup based on the actual landing time. If the return flight is delayed 4 hours, the pickup moves 4 hours later. Driver positions are based on real arrival, not scheduled arrival. If the delay is extreme (8+ hours turning midnight arrival into 8 am arrival), the driver originally allocated might have other commitments, and we’d assign a different driver. Communication helps – text us if you see a massive delay coming.
Can we book a return for a different passenger?
Yes, return journeys don’t need to be with the same passengers. Common scenario: you take an outbound journey to the airport solo, your spouse collects the car from the airport, and uses the return journey a few days later when they pick you up. Or a family member drops you off, a different family member uses the return pickup. Just clarify when booking who’s using each leg and provide relevant contact numbers.
