Why Our Airport Wait Time Policy Makes Sense

You’ve arranged a cab for airport pick up. But this is what keeps you awake at night – what if the flight is delayed?

We’ve been doing airport transfers from Manchester since 2018. During that time, we’ve completed more than 15,000 airport pickups. The No. 1 question we receive? “If my flight is late, will I have to pay more?”

The answer is simple: No.

We provide 1 hours’ waiting time free of charge from when your flight lands. Not from when you first arrived. Not from when you booked. As soon as the plane is really on the deck.

What “Landing Time” Actually Means (Because Nobody Explains This)

Here’s where it gets confusing. When we say “1 hours from landing,” we’re talking about wheels on tarmac.

Not when you:

• Clear immigration
• Collect your bags
• Walk to the arrivals hall
• Find the pickup point

The clock starts after the plane lands. You have two full hours to get from the airport, which is almost always enough time. This is true even at busy times in Manchester Terminal 2.

Through the airport system, our drivers monitor flights constantly in real time. If your BA flight from Spain touches down 90 minutes late? Your driver knows. The wait time? Still free.

How Airport Taxi Wait Times Operate at Manchester

So let’s just be real for a moment about what really occurs.

Terminal 1 & 2: Between 35-45 minutes is the time, in most case, that it takes for passengers to clear customs and reach pickup. That’s for international flights. Domestic? You’re generally in and out in 20 minutes.

Terminal 3: Slightly quicker. The immigration queues are smaller and move more quickly. We get most passengers within 30 minutes after landing.

But I’ll tell you this much from thousands of pickups – flights from some places take longer. Turkish Airlines passengers? I generally need over 60 minutes as flights are full and baggage takes time. Emirates A380S? Same story.

That’s why our timing is not a priority. One hour is the (nearly) catch-all.

What If You Need More Than 1 hour?

Fair question. It’s a rare event, but here’s the policy.

We charge at £10 per additional 30 minutes if it exceeds 1 hours. Not per minute, but per half hour. So 1 hours and 15 minutes is an additional £10. Not £5, not £15. Flat £10.

Why charge at all? Our driver’s still there. They’ve turned down other jobs. The fuel is running (especially in winter when the heating has to stay on).

But honestly? In 15,000 pickups, we might have charged the waiting fee an extra 200 times. It’s that rare.

Reality at Peak Times (What Drivers Actually See)

Friday evenings between 5-8pm? Manchester Airport is chaos. Flights stack up. Immigration queues get long. Baggage carousels run slow.

We’ve timed it. You can spend 75 minutes clearing the airport after landing here at 6 p.m. on a Friday. On a Tuesday afternoon? Same flight, same terminal – 35 minutes.

That 1-hour standing around rule works in both cases.

Because it’s Friday, we don’t charge more for that. We do not charge “peak time supplements.” The price you book is the price you pay – whether your flight arrives at 3 a.m. on a Wednesday or at 6 p.m. on a Friday.

Yes – we’re open 24 hours a day, even on Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve and every bank holiday. Fixed fare for early morning and late night arrival. No additional fees for unsociable hours.

Q: What if my flight is canceled or diverted?

Sounds like you lost this round. If need be, we won’t charge to rebook your flight. If you’re diverted to an alternative airport (Liverpool, East Midlands), we can collect you from there – we will price that separately from the alternate airport back to your drop off location.

Q: Are there any child seats for the Airport Shuttle Service?

Yes, we do provide child seats and booster seats for a free. Just let us know when booking and we’ll send the correct vehicle. We carry car seats for babies (backward facing), toddlers, and children up to 12 years of age.

Q: Can I use my card at least or is it all cash?

We take cash, card (including business and all major debit/credit cards) and bank transfer for B2B. We can accept payment in the car (we have card machines), or you can pay online when you make a booking. Receipts provided for all journeys.
